It Doesn’t Have to be Perfect

One of my personal struggles has always been with perfection. I think that I want something, start working on it, start worrying about it not being exactly the way I want it to be, or run into a problem or obstacle where I think that other people won’t like the way it is, and quit.
A great example of this is with what’s going on with Howard Stern right now and his satellite radio program. He’s being sued by his old employer for breach of contract.
Is he rolling over? Is he saying “Oh, man, they don’t think that I should have moved to satellite, so I better quit.”
No. He’s fighting it. He’s doing what he wants to do, and standing up to them.
That’s why he’s Howard Stern.
The same could be said for any successful person. They make a decision based on what they want to achieve, and go for it.
Today, I will do that.
It doesn’t mean I have to become anyone I don’t want to be. I don’t have to lie, cheat, steal, break commitments, or anything else that I’ve done in the past.
I can decide what I want, decide what works and what doesn’t, and go for it.
And so can you.
If it isn’t perfect, that’s OK. Is it better than it was yesterday? Is it a step in the right direction?
Even the obstacles can be turned into opportunities.
We are already living the life of our dreams.
If we don’t like what we’ve got, we’ve got to dream differently.
