Change… It Takes More Than an Ebook (or a Movie)

It looks like my first guest blogging gig has been published… Woo Hoo! :) Alex Shalman . com | Practical Personal Development has published my article The Courage to Change. The article is about my own experiences with what has become one of the major criticisms of the movie “The Secret”… that just watching a DVD will not change your life.

The critics are right, to an extent… just watching the DVD (or reading a book, or taking a course) won’t do anything but give you knowledge. Knowledge is not power… applied knowledge is. All the movie can do is get the ball rolling. We are the one’s who have to keep pushing it.

Thanks, Alex… it really was my pleasure.

I just read your guest post on Alex’s blog. I think it was really well-written.

The last sentence though in this post describes it all. You can’t achieve much in life with all reading and no doing.

Thank you, Sania :) I only know this from the years I spent doing it the other way around.

Lyman,
You are so right… we must keep pushing the ball. I think that due to our drive-thru society, some people want a magical answer for their problems. While the LOA and the other Universal laws of success can help us achieve success, we still must put in the effort and take actions.

Kristin: even though I think it’s great that The Secret has gotten out to so many people, it probably is because of our drive through society… just more people looking for more of a quick fix. And the majority of them will be disappointed when their lives aren’t perfect by next Thursday. But maybe at least some of them won’t give up on changing, realize the truth of it, and stick with changing their thinking for longer than a week.

Lyman,
I, too, am very happy that The Secret has touched so many people’s lives. Yes… some will be disappointed and some will really use the information to change their lives. Those who want the quick fix will move on to something else that they think will offer them the “key” to a great life. Those who do change their own lives in a positive way will contribute to more positivity in the world! That’s a great thing!

That is a great thing, Kristin! And for those who don’t get it right away, the seed has been planted. :)
