Three Books That Changed My Life

Phil Gerbyshak of Make It Great has shared a challenge with his readers to post their three favorite books.

Only Three???

It wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be. It’s not often that I can point to a book that I’ve read and say that, without a doubt, that book changed my life. There are more than three, but these are the tops, in the order that I read them:

The Autobiography of Malcom X – This book showed me that a man can change his life and his destiny through spirituality and persistence, and can reinvent himself over and over again as he grows. When I first read it, I was stuck in one of those periods where “my religion is right and yours is wrong”, and my brain just couldn’t comprehend how someone from such a different background and brand of spirituality could do what he did.

The Dancing Wu-Li Masters – while reading this one, I was finally able to marry the spiritual side of my thinking to the scientific side. It opened my mind to the possibilities out there that I couldn’t see with my eyes or touch with my hands.

Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude – my regular readers won’t be surprised by this one. It was the first time I saw that I could take regular, consistent action on solid principles that I could wrap my mind around. I’m still working my way through it for the second time, and it’s better than it was the first!

Be sure to check out Phil’s post for all of the other responses. If you participate, there’s a chance you’ll win a copy of Phil’s book, 10 Ways To Make It Great!

Hey, maybe if I win, that book will end up on this list. :)

I’d never heard of any of these books, so I appreciate you sharing them. I’ll add them to my growing list of books to read.

And good luck in the contest. You’re the first to trackback!

They are all a little obscure, and none are new. Which is one of the reasons that I know that they were life changing… I can still point to them after all of this time and say “Yup, that one was great!”

And regarding the contest, I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but I’ll be buying the book if I don’t win. :)
