The Last Lecture

Written by Lyman Reed

Guess what?

You’re gonna die.

Whether it’s in a few month like Randy Pausch, or in 80 years, it’s going to happen.

How will you spend the time that you have?

I was sent a link to this video by a friend. The 12 minutes of your time that you invest in watching it will be worth it, if you take what he says to heart.

Live well.

[update: please see this post for links to the full version of the lecture]

Lyman, thanks for sharing this very inspirational video story of Randy Pausch. I am going to send this in an email to all of my family and friends. Imagine if we all lived our lives as if we only had a month to live.

Pretty amazing guy, isn’t he, Patricia. I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. :)

Lyman,

If you haven’t watched the entire original lecture, you owe it to yourself to do so. Worth every second of your time!

Lyman:

Did you know it was captioned? A friend sent me a link to a page with the entire lecture in subtitles.

I watched the whole thing, literally mesmerized. It was incredible. Thank God someone decided to subtitle it for those like me who can’t hear.

Nice to have a snippet of his lecture from the Oprah show on here. You’re right – we’re all going to die. No dispute with that. And we can’t take anything with us. Isn’t that a funny thing?

Some of us spend our whole lives gathering, accumulating things, none of which we take with us. Ironic, huh?

Thanks for putting this up on here.

Mike and Stephen,

Thank you so much for encouraging me to watch the full lecture… I can honestly say that those were some of the best 77 minutes I’ve ever invested.

And Stephen, thanks for pointing out that there’s a subtitled version out there, and for pointing out the importance of it. Keep pushing those of us who may not immediately think of it to include them whenever possible.

The full version really deserves it’s own post. I’m off to add it now.
