Randy Pausch Revisited

Written by Lyman Reed

Thanks to Mike and Stephen, I took the time to watch the full version of Randy Pausch’s Lecture – Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.

Stephen also pointed out there there is a captioned version available – you can watch that one here.

And here’s a pdf transcript of the lecture.

If you are at all interested in learning how to create a better life, please take the time to watch and/or read this.

Randy Pausch is an amazing man. This speech is one of the most eye opening speeches I’ve ever seen. It makes you reconsider everything about reality and what it means to be alive.

Thanks for sharing so much good stuff on here.

Hey there, Steve… he really is an amazing guy. I don’t think I’ve been as fascinated by a 70+ minutes speech ever before.

Thanks for swinging by again, my friend. :)

Some lessons picked from Randy’s lecture:
1. Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want things.
2. Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.
3. Never lose the child-like wonder.
4. If we do something which is pioneering, we will get arrows in the back. But at the end of the day, a whole lot of people will have a whole lot of fun.
5. Be good at something; it makes you valuable.
6. If you live your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself, and the dreams will come to you.
7. If you pursue something you like at childhood, it just becomes a part of your life.

Wow… thanks for that awesome summary, Anicia!

The first one (Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want things) is something that I’ve been telling myself quite a bit lately. It’s a great motivator for when things don’t seem to be going my way.

Thanks again!
