How to Know If The Law of Attraction is Working

I’m going to give you the secret to determining if the Law of Attraction is working in your life.

First, think about at a person, place, thing, or situation in your life.  It doesn’t matter if it’s something you’d consider good, bad, or indifferent.  Any person, place, thing, or situation will do.

Second - ask yourself this question: “Is this person, place, thing, or situation a part of my life?”  I’d guess the answer is yes… since I asked you to think of a person, place, thing, or situation that’s a part of your life.

Guess what?  Since this person, place, thing, or situation is a part of your life… the Law of Attraction is working in your life.  Congratulations! :)

I know… this may seem like silly, trite, and circular logic.  That’s because it is.

But there’s a point I’m struggling to get to.

Often you’ll see people talking about getting the Law of Attraction to work.  It seems to me that that’s like saying we want to get gravity to work.

Gravity always works, 100% of the time.

And so does the Law of Attraction.

It’s the effects of gravity that are different, depending on the location, nature, and state of the thing it’s acting on.

What we are really trying to do is get ourselves into alignment with our desires, so that the the Law of Attraction will work to our advantage - it’s effects in our lives will be desireable.

Why is it that if I walk off of the edge of a cliff, I’ll fall, but an airplane or a hot air balloon can fly with no problem?

It seems to me that it’s because of what they are.

An airplane filled with jet fuel is able to convert that fuel into useful energy and lift itself off of the ground.

A hot air balloon filled with helium is able to lift itself off of the ground because the helium is lighter than the atmosphere around it, so it gets pulled upwards.

But without the fuel or the helium, the airplane and the balloon are just as earth bound as you and I are.

Even with the fuel or the helium, they don’t defy the law of gravity - by definition, a natural law cannot be broken.  What they are doing is working with it, and using other laws (like the laws of thermodynamics) to get the result they are looking for.

In my understanding, noticing what works and what doesn’t is the only thing that I can actually do with the Law of Attraction.

Getting myself into alignment with my desires and taking action on them are the real fuel that “get it to work” for me.

That reminds me of the woman who was on a diet and drove by the bakery. It had all of her favorite treats in the window, so she left it to God. “Dear God, if you want me to buy something and break my diet, just make there be a parking spot right in front of the store.” Sure enough, there was, and she only had to drive around the block 8 times before it opened up. :) If we really want something we’ll keep going after it.

Ha! I love that, Jean! And I think I’ve probably done that with a few things in my own life… thanks for sharing it. :)

    Hi Lyman,
Thank you so much for sharing this post. It is right on. I hear SO many people say that they’ve been doing the Law of Attraction for ‘X’ months/years or that they’re trying to get the Law of Attraction work for them. It’s really funny but at the same time I get that this concept is still new to some and they are only perceiving it in the way they can.

I’ve written a similar blog post here, in case you’re interested: http://prosperitylighthouse.com/blog/the-law-of-attraction-simply-works/

Lyman, I believe we’re in this world to learn from each other. So I’m always happy to recommend resources that have helped me. Thank you for being you. - Nat

Wonderful article, Lyman! I compare the LoA to gravity all the time!

It’s not about “using” it, I think. The LoA offers us a constant, perfect feedback system about who we are, based on what shows up in our life. It ensures that our physical life circumstances are a perfect mirror that reflects our state of being back to us.

    Blessings,
    Andrea

Thanks for that, Andrea… “A constant, perfect feedback system.” I really like that!

So, if you’re like a friend of mine who believes in this bullshit blame-the-victim tripe, the LoA means he attracted cancer to himself and has no-one to blame but himself for dying?

I understand the idea, and agree that we do bring to our lives what we decide to bring to it, but sometimes, shit just happens. Being born poor means you’ll probably always be poor, no matter what wishful thinking you’ve got going on. The LoA is for people who can’t face the inherent unfairness of the relative world.

Go on, back to your denial, folks.

    Hi
The powers we have within ourself are just beyond our comprehension.Even if we are able to use only a fraction of it we might be able to improve ourselves greatly.Thank you for your insights

“… this may seem like silly, trite, and circular logic. That’s because it is.”

Admitting your logic is fundamentaly flawed and your conclusion is valid demonstrates the depth of your delusion.

“Gravity always works, 100% of the time.

And so does the Law of Attraction.”

Comparing a lame theory to something that is proven doesn’t lend it credibility.

“A hot air balloon filled with helium is able to lift itself off of the ground because the helium is lighter than the atmosphere around it, so it gets pulled upwards.”

No. A hot air balloon is filled with “HOT AIR”. Much like the “law” of attraction.

“seems to me that it’s because of what they are.”

Thats what they are because a large number of people worked very hard to design, test and build these things. They didn’t just happen because of positive thinking.

Listen to a science podcast once in a while.

Doh! I suppose a hot air balloon *wouldn’t* have much helium in it! :)
