In his personal development classic Personal Power, Tony Robbins outlines what he calls the “Ultimate Success Formula”: four steps that you can take to be, do, or have anything you want in life.

The Ultimate Success Formula

  1. Know Your Outcome
  2. Get Yourself to Take Action
  3. Notice the Results You Are Getting
  4. Change Your Approach If You Aren’t Getting the Results You Want

Like so much else in life, these steps are simple.

They aren’t necessarily easy… but they are simple.

Since I recently listened to (and began putting into practice) Tony’s Get the Edge program, I’d like to take some time to explore each of these four principles in a series.

I’d also like to get your feedback on them… is it all just hype, or do these principles actually work?

Psst… I’ll let you in on a little secret… they always work, 100% of the time.  It’s putting them into practice that trips people up – and believe me… I’m as “trippy” as the next guy.

One of the main reasons that they appear not to work was best said by Vince Lombardi, the massively successful football coach:

“We didn’t lose the game… we just ran out of time.”

Which is why my favorite definition of success is Earl Nightingale’s (from his classic recording “The Strangest Secret”):

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”

It doesn’t matter if it’s January 1rst (as it is while I’m writing this), April 15th, June 8th, August 27th… on any day, at any time, you can decide on an outcome, begin taking massive action toward making it happen, decide if what you are doing is working or not, and change your approach if it isn’t.

If you are honestly working on realizing your goals… then you are a success.

Up Next… Determining Your Outcome…
