If you aren’t moving closer to the result you are looking for, there is only one way to get a better result:
Change Your Approach
There’s a fairly common analogy to this: an airplane is off course at least 90% of the time while it’s in flight – but it constantly adjusts so that if it intended on getting from New York to Los Angeles, it ends up in Los Angeles, and not London.
Step Three was about awareness of the fact that we aren’t getting to Los Angeles.
Step Four is about taking the action necessary to adjust what we are doing and actually getting there.
Sometimes, people don’t have a problem changing their approach.
They set a target at 8 am on Tuesday… let’s just say it’s to have accumulated a million dollars.
They take action.
By 10 am, they don’t yet have a million dollars, so they change their approach.
By noon… still no million dollars… so they change their approach again.
This may be a bit of an exaggeration, but can you relate?
How many different “programs” have you signed up for this week, month, or even year?
How many different “gurus” have you decided have the final say on success?
How many different “processes” have you tried… once?
As Charles Haanel says in The Master Key System – “life is an unfoldment.” It’s about growth, not instant change.
And as Napoleon Hill says in Think and Grow Rich – “Many have quit just three feet from gold.”
We may not know exactly how long our success will take, and we often need to give it time to begin to see evidence of it.
But if it looks like you are headed more toward bankruptcy than toward your million dollar net worth – maybe it is time to try a different approach.

Many gurus and approaches exist that promote different ways of thinking, doing and experiencing life. Regardless of how many books you read or seminars you attend, all you need is already within the self. Learning to tap into that is a process.
Absolutely, Liara… everything we need is already within us. The best gurus, books, tapes, seminars, etc. help us to bring it out.
Knowing when to quit, and when not to, is not easy. A good book I read recently on this topic is Seth Godin’s “The Dip.” It’s a quick read, and well worth the investment of a couple hours and a few bucks.

Hi Brian. I remember when “The Dip” first came out… I never got around to reading it. Thanks for the reminder!
