About a week ago, I picked up a copy of Thriving Together. A ‘Magic’ Way to Attract the Life of Our Dreams by Patricia Schiavone, and I loved it. I immediately asked Patricia to write an article for Creating a Better Life on the concept of group visualization (which you can read here), and also sent her some questions that I had about the concepts in the book. She was gracious enough to respond – so here they are:
—
1. Could you explain where the idea for group visualizations came from?
A person who loves me very much sent me a book as a birthday present. That book was my first contact with the Law of Attraction and deliberate creation. As I advanced reading it, I felt that things made sense, that at last somebody was telling me what I needed to hear. I became so fascinated with this that I enthusiastically told a friend about it. Well, not only told… I read pages and pages to her. She took the book home and the book had exactly the same effect on her. She passed it on to four friends of hers. Neither of us had never meditated or nothing of the sort. All of them read it in a rush and a couple of weeks later we were gathering to talk about the book. I am sure any book on the LoA would have had the same effect on us. I believe it was simply the right time for us to get in contact with that knowledge.
In that first meeting (some of us actually met there) the idea ‘came up’ of visualizing together, so we fixed a new meeting and that is how it started.
2. The seven gratitude rocks you mentioned on page 17 – I loved that idea! Could you talk about it a little?
Being grateful is one of the most important ‘ingredients’ of the success pie. It makes you feel good, it raises your vibrations, and your energy is extremely positive when you give sincere thanks. That positive energy helps you attract good things and experiences.
I had read about carrying a gratitude rock to remember to say thanks during the day, each time one would touch it. For example, carrying it in the pocket, you are bound to touch it often. Well, when my meditation and visualization practice became a routine and I started manifesting things that filled me with joy, my gratefulness increased and increased and everything had a snowball effect. The more I appreciated, the more I got, and the more I received, the more grateful I felt.
After a very joyful weekend at the beach, my son and I returned home with seven beautiful – also very common – little stones. They were more beautiful because they reminded me of a special moment shared with him, of course. So, I thought: “What is the activity I do most often during the day?” The answer was simple: sit at the computer.
That is how those beautiful, seven little rocks were placed next to my computer screen and each time I sit in front of the computer, I give thanks for seven things while I hold each of the stones. For some reason, holding the stones help me feel more grateful.
3. The very first step of doing a group visualization is sharing with others – I can see how some might have trouble with it. How can people get over the fear of judgment when it comes to this type of sharing?
Human beings are much more similar than some of us would like to accept. Our inner wishes are not that different to our neighbor’s. In fact, most of us want the same four basic things: love, health, money and success in an activity – profession or hobby.
Once we realize this, who can judge who?
In addition, the general atmosphere that is generated in a visualization group has an energy of its own, that can vary according to the members, but has a common denominator: lots of generosity, lots of love, lots of care, lots of well-meant interest.
Remember: when you are part of a group, the success of a member is the success of the group.
4. Related to the above – should people comment on others’ visualizations? For instance, if one person’s visualization is to have a million dollars in a week, and that person has never made more than a hundred bucks, should a group member mention this to them?
Members of the group never judge others’ intentions. They always welcome them and easily visualize them. It is extremely easy for me to visualize you earning a million dollars in a week. After all, why not? Lots of people do it!
Huge intents look bigger to the person directly involved than to the others.
Say a member tells you: “I want my mother and my brother to get along well from this week on.” You probably can visualize that extremely easy. Maybe it’s the member himself who cannot visualize it because he has never seen his mother and brother get along well.
5. From page 36 – It is Easier to Visualize Other People’s Success – could you talk about that a little?
Oops, in a way I have answered this question when answering question number 4.
It is related to the self-limiting beliefs each of us have.
When I wanted to stop working 9-5 and become a freelancer, although I wanted it badly I could not imagine how I could achieve that. However, the members of my visualization group were completely convinced that I was able to take that step and they gave me an extraordinary support that was key for my success.
When we visualize something feeling good and with no interference, the Law of Attraction says that the Universe delivers it to you. Some of us can certify that this is 100% so. Using the same example – I want to respect the other members’ privacy so I cannot talk about their experience—whenever I visualized myself as a freelancer, I got the negative interference of my fear to lose a secure job, fear to the unknown. I even got images of my son starving! So, was I doing a good job attracting?
But the rest of the crew was visualizing that with absolutely no negative interference! So they were attracting that experience into my life. And I am extremely grateful to them for that.
I hope this clarifies those points you were curious about, but feel free to contact me if you have any other questions that I can answer.

Thank you, Patricia! Your warmth, sincerity, energy, and wisdom have all inspired me. I’m excited to get our own group together!
