In the olden days, there was very little a woman could do to enlarge her rather tepid and small breasts. However, times have changed now, as a woman has several options at her behest to enlarge her breasts. With the services of a cosmetic clinic or a hospital such as NU Cosmetic Clinic, a woman can increase the size of her breasts.
Meaning
The medical term for breast enlargement is augmentation mammoplasty, wherein a breast implant is surgically placed under the breast tissue of a woman. These implants are made of silicone that contain substances such as silicone gel or saltwater. Most doctors recommend saltwater implants, as these are safe and will not cause any infection or damage if the implant leaks under the breast tissue post the operation.
Procedure
For such enlargement surgeries, the doctor would either make an incision around the armpit area or at the crease of the breast. Post the incision, the implant is either placed below the breast tissue or the chest muscle. Once the implant reaches its destination, it is adjusted so that the desired positioning and shape can be achieved. Once the correct positioning is achieved, the surgeon would stitch the area and close the incision.
Results
Generally, a breast augmentation procedure increases the size of the breast by a few cup sizes, usually one or two. The procedure can also help correct symmetrical issues with the breasts, as some women might have irregularly shaped breasts. Brest augmentation procedures are usually done in isolation, however, they can be done in combination with other procedures such as breast lifts, which raise and enlarge sagging breasts.
Post-Surgery
After the surgery, the incision has gauze positioned over it and a special support bra or elastic bandage to maintain the positioning of the implants. The incision stitches remain for a week or two after the surgery, with some soreness experienced during the first few days. Some women could also experience swelling and bruising, which might stay for a few weeks after the procedure. A support bra can help relieve the swelling to a great extent.
Hospital Stay
Though the patient can leave the hospital right after her surgery, it is recommended that the patient stays at least for one night at the hospital after the surgery. The patient must leave the hospital only if there is someone to take care of her at home for at least 24 hours after the surgery. Otherwise, the breast implant patient can choose to stay at a spa or a recovery facility, where her recovery would be monitored by healthcare professionals.
