Getting It Together: A Virtual Conference
(3)Posted on May 10th, 2007Lyman ReedUncategorized
For those of us who can’t make SOBCon 07 this weekend, Carolyn Manning is hosting a virtual conference titled “Getting It Together” on Thoughts & Philosophies.
The conference is broken up into two sessions, a “West” and an “East”.
The West session runs from noon to 6 pm EDT on May 11, and includes Rick Cockrum (Shards of Consciousness), Jessica Doyle (jessicadoyle.ca), Bes Zain (The Reasoner), and Carma Dutra (Carma’s Window).
The East session runs from 10 pm May 11 to 4 am May 12 (also EDT), and includes Leah Maclean (Working Solo), Nneka (Balanced Life Center), Klearchos Kapoutsis (Klearchos Guide to the Galaxy), TechZ (TechZ Online), Chris Owen (Pink Apple Connection), and myself.
The topics:
- siesta time (optimum productivity needs regular R&R)
- long-term projects need short-term attention (tend to the small details and the big picture will fall into place
- scheduling your best life (how to plan daily/long-term goals)
- today’s urgencies often mean nothing tomorrow (an emergency or a screaming hype might not be important in the long run)
- prioritizing before you go crazy (do the important things first, even if they’re not the easiest)
- dismissing the junk, it doesn’t pay the rent (if it doesn’t give pleasure, or is redundant and meaningless, don’t bother with it
I’ll be moderating from midnight to 1 am eastern, under the topic “scheduling your best life (how to plan daily/long-term goals)”. There’s a bit of irony there… Carolyn and I went back and forth a bunch of times trying to figure out exactly when I could moderate; there was quite a bit of “nope can’t do it then”, “sorry that one’s taken”, “I think I can do it - whoops I can’t never mind.”
Check out the most recent schedule (as of this writing) on Thoughts & Philosophies. It looks like there are two spots open if you are interested in moderating a topic.
I hope to see you there!

Getting Back to Normal
(3)Posted on March 29th, 2007Lyman ReedUncategorized
The new setup is coming along pretty nicely, I think. I love the new theme… a basic, easy to follow look and feel, but it’s got a lot of power on the backend. I’d love to know what you think of it.
I’ve been spending most of today working on the secret bonus that I’m contributing to tomorrow’s Simpleology book launch… oops, I guess it’s not a secret anymore!
It feels really good to be offering something this time, rather than just seeing what I can suck up out of it.
And it feels fantastic to be part of the promotion of something that offers so much more in use value than it asks for in cash value. (See The Science of Getting Rich if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)
Don’t forget… tomorrow, March 30th, Noon
PacificEastern Time, is when it happens… (woo hoo, 3 hours earlier than I thought!)And now back to fixing up my new diggs… (no, not Digg… diggs).
