Another Procrastination “Trick”
(2)
There are quite a few methods out there to combat procrastination, a couple of which I’ve mentioned on this blog.
There’s breaking down your big stuff into smaller, manageable tasks.
There’s committing to working on something you’ve been avoiding for at least 15 minutes.
But how about rooting out procrastination at the source?
Vickie from Contemplate This reminded me via her Boundless Living Challenge blog of the free EFT videos offered by Magnus of Tapping.com, specifically one that deals with procrastination.
Even more than the EFT itself, a line from the video really struck me:
“We are avoiding the way we think that we are going to feel when we are doing something or when we’ve completed it.”
I’ve just been fascinated by that statement ever since hearing it. Probably because it’s so damn true.
If we really break it down: it’s not the way we are going to feel - it’s the way we think we are going to feel.
We may know on a rational level that doing those dishes (there they are again!), or writing that letter, or responding to that email, or calling that client, will actually make us feel better.
But at some level, somewhere, we think that doing it will be too painful, or that the end result won’t be what we expected.
We often try to convince ourselves that the task won’t be too bad, that if we’d just do it we’d feel so much better, and try to remember all of the times in our lives when we’ve done similar things and felt great afterwards.
But when the conscious mind tries to wage a direct battle against the subconscious - the subconscious will always win.
Which is why we need a way to convince the subconscious to go along with our rational thoughts.
EFT is a great way to do this - my personal favorite, but there are other ways.
Whatever your method of choice, just remember that it’s always better to go after the cause rather than what may just be a symptom.

Free EFT Videos, and a new EFT Project Announcement
(8)
After receiving and viewing my copy of Try It On Everything, I’ve been inspired to start using EFT again on a regular basis.
Free EFT Videos
The only thing that the free EFT getting started package is missing is a video introduction to EFT that actually shows the full procedure, and I thought that my readers both deserved and would appreciate seeing how to use EFT in a step by step manner. The “official” EFT Introductory Video is great as a promotional and informational resource, but it doesn’t actually teach the procedure.
The best free EFT videos that I’ve found are on Tapping.com. Magnus does an excellent job of going through the EFT tapping in a consistent, patient, and accurate way, and even includes the nine-gamut procedure (which many practitioner’s leave out - although he does leave out a couple of other points). The list of free videos from Tapping.com can be found here - it’s a tremendous resource for people who want to get started on EFT quickly without the background and technical information provided in the free EFT manual.
My Own EFT Project
I’ve also begun work on a new resource for people who want to know if EFT actually works when it’s applied on a consistent basis. I’ve scheduled it for release on May 6, 2008, and it will be initially be free to my subscribers, whether they read by RSS or email. I’m not quite sure how it’s going to come out - to give you a little hint, it’s going to be similar to Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me, but without the video (or the high cholesterol!)
Be sure to subscribe to Creating a Better Life by clicking here to be one of the first to get this upcoming resource.
And have fun tapping!
